About the Event

Join us for a very special tasting of Chateau Figeac Premier Grand Cru Classe A. Frédéric Faye, General Manager at Château Figeac, will guide us through a 11vertical. The unique style of Figeac represents the quintessence of the elegance and refinement of the wines of the area bordering Pomerol.

Figeac is an ancient Bordeaux vineyard which can trace its origins as far back as the second century during the ancient Gallo-Roman period. Figeac is one of the few St. Emilion wine vineyards that has remained continually occupied for the past two thousand years.

However, it was not until 1654, when the property was passed to the Carles family, that the estate took the shape that we know today, and that its wines gained prominence outside the Saint Emilion area. Thierry Manoncourt took charge of the estate in 1947, and has been widely credited for turning the chateau’s fortunes around. He was also a founding member of the Union des Grands Crus – a driving force behind the Saint Emilion classification of the 1950s

Upon Thierry's death in 2010, Michel Rolland was brought in to help refine the wines, which, while widely-regarded as the most Medoc-like in Saint Emilion, had previously drawn criticisms for issues with ripeness and ‘dusty traditionalism’.

As of 2022, it is one of two chateaux to carry the highest rank (Premier Grand Cru Classé A) in the official Classification of Saint-Émilion wine.
