BACKGROUND:

https://www.genuwineimports.com/

Genuwine Imports is a modern wine importer that celebrates the wild, the classical and everything in between.

They work with producers who aren’t afraid to do things differently — whether redefining the conversation around a traditional wine region, or taking things back to basics, they are committed to sharing the stories behind these wines and those that make them.

Antonio Madeira - Vinhas Velhas

Vinhas Velhas, which translates to old vines, is one of Antonio’s top red wines. The 2019 contains over 100 year old vines from plots situated around 450 metres above sea level on predominately granite soils that make up this stunning ‘grand cru' landscape named the Serra da Estrela.

McFarlane Wines - Monday’s Child (Chenin Blanc)

Alex McFarlane’s first wine she made, she chose a Chenin Blanc vineyard in the gorgeous Polkadraai sub-region of Stellenbosch, where afternoon sea-breezes blow in, amplifying the fruit character and freshness in the grapes.  After ageing for 7 months in old French oak, the wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve all that gorgeous character.

An aromatic, flinty and floral nose leads to an intense, piercing and refreshing palate, with gorgeous texture and impressive length.

Scions of Sianai - Swanesang Syrah

As far as the Syrah's from Bernahard Bredell go, the Swanesang sits at the very top. The fruit all comes from a single, small and low-yielding vineyard in the south of Stellenbosch, South Africa

The fruit sees no new oak throughout the process, and ages on its lees for about a year before being bottled.

Velvety in texture and boldy flavoured, it's a peppery and magnificently balanced expression of Syrah that exudes quality.

Same River Twice - Rouge (Grenache & Syrah)

Heliocentric Wines is a négociant company through and through: James does not own any vineyards or a wine cellar and he does not plan on it either. His advantage is that he knows Rhône, Provence and Languedoc like the back of his hand, has long-lasting relationships with a myriad of producers and thus also has in-depth knowledge of the producers’ vineyard and cellar work.

This wine is a fresh take on a classic blend of Grenache Noir with a touch Syrah that expresses aromatic richness of place with fruit purity for freshness and drinkability. It’s made to capture the aromatic richness of the terroir but with the lightest of touches for refreshment and drinkability.
