GERMANY IN JULY

Oliver Zeter is a pioneering winemaker from the Pfalz whose trademark varietal is Sauvignon Blanc. It is a grape rarely grown in Germany (less than 2% of all plantings), and he was the first here to make it in the rich and smokey Fumé style.

Oenovitale is excited to introduce Oliver’s Sauvignon Blancs to the Ontario market.  Simply put, his wines will redefine your perception and enjoyment of Sauvignon Blanc.  The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in stainless steel and French oak. The crisp acidity along with citrus and herbal notes make it a perfect summer wine. The 2021 Sauvignon Blanc Fumé is spontaneously fermented in oak barrels to deliver a smoky element. Mouthwatering stone fruit, lemon, herbs, a hint of passion fruit and subtle notes of gooseberry from Oliver's oldest and finest vines. Jancis Robinson has called Oliver’s Sauvignon Blancs “serious and well-balanced” with scores of 17+. She says: "When Germany produces a really interesting, well-balanced Sauvignon, you know the wine world is truly changing and we all have to run to keep up.” Sample both with us along with two other surprises from Germany.  Hint: both involve Pinot Noir.
