About the Winemaker
A. Christmann, a family-run estate in Gimmeldingen, Mittelhaardt, is a benchmark for dry Riesling and Pinot Noir. Steffen Christmann, a former lawyer and President of the VDP, has led the winery since 1996, pioneering Biodynamic viticulture. His daughter Sophie joined in 2018, bringing global experience and a focus on Spätburgunder. In 2021, they were named "Winemaker of the Year" by Vinum Wine Guide.
In 2019, they partnered with Mathieu Kauffmann, former chef de cave at Champagne Bollinger, launching Christmann & Kauffmann—a sparkling wine project quickly earning acclaim. Their first releases are now among Germany’s top sparkling wines.
