About the Event
Grower Champagne is a showcase for the diversity in flavor and style found throughout the Champagne region.
With such rich family history in Champagne, 8th generation Eric Rodez has a deep passion for the terroir, which the wines of Champagne Rodez very much reflect this. Having worked for Krug for a number of years, Eric is a master at assemblage. With up to 5-10 different vintages going into the final cuvées, this process is compared to that of a music composer. The dedication and outstanding quality are expressed through the vinous, multilayered, complex champagnes, and as Eric puts it, “every year a completely new symphony is created!”
Pascal Doquet's approach in the vineyards has always been with great love and respect. Converting fully to organics, the use of cover crops, choosing plant-based treatments over copper, the use of lighter tractors to not compact soil — the extreme focus is on vineyard management. In the winery, they use natural yeasts, enamel lined tanks and the use of some neutral oak is favoured. Pascal has stated, “it’s the viticulture that makes the difference”
